Directions and suggestions for getting to the Gardens
From Central Northern Italy: A26 VOLTRI-GRAVELLONA TOCE, BAVENO/STRESA exit – 11 km along SS33 towards VERBANIA. From north of the Alps, the gardens are approximately 100 km from each of the 3 main passes: Simplon, St. Gotthard or San Bernardino. Simplon - A26/E62 AUTOSTRADA DEI TRAFORI, VERBANIA exit – follow SS34 towards VERBANIA PALLANZA.  St Gotthard and San Bernardino: drive along the western side of the lake on SS33 – at about 28 km from the Swiss-Italian border, you come to Pallanza – follow the road signs for Villa Taranto.
Verbania is connected to Milan by the national railway network www.trenitalia.com and can be reached in 1.5 hours from Milan Central Station. The closest train stop is Verbania-Pallanza, which is about 10 km from the Villa Taranto Gardens.
The VCO TRASPORTI bus service connects the train station with Verbania and the Botanical Gardens daily.
A Navigazione Lago Maggiore landing stage is situated right in front of the entrance to the Botanical Gardens.
The town of Verbania can also be reached with the Trenord railway network, Milan - Laveno Mombello route (1.15h) and then crossing Lake Maggiore (15 mins) on the Laveno-Pallanza ferry
A daily shuttle connects MILANO MALPENSA (MXP) airport with Verbania Pallanza 5/6 times a day in approximately 45 mins. (65 km).
