The genus Victoria, native to the areas of the large river basins of South America (Amazon River, Paraná), includes the largest specimens of the water lily family. During the periods of the plant’s greatest vegetative activity (June-July) the leaves reach two meters in diameter. In Europe it is cultivated as an annual species, with the spherical seeds the size of a pea being sown in January-February.
