Villa Taranto Botanical Gardens

The gardens are located on the western shore of Lake Maggiore in Verbania Pallanza, in the province of Verbano-Cusio-Ossola.

The average visit lasts from 1 to about 2 hours.

The gardens are open all day every day, including holidays:

  • from March 16 to April 4: 9:00 am – 4:45 pm (last admission) gates close at 5:30 pm
  • from April 5 to September 14: 9:00 am – 5:45 pm (last admission) gates close at 6:30 pm
  • from September 15 to October 12: 9:00 am – 4:45 pm (last admission) gates close at 5:30 pm
  • from October 13 to November 2: 9:00 am – 4:00 pm (last admission) gates close at 5:00 pm
  • Joint ticket: €15.00
  • Reduced joint ticket (11-25 years): €10.00
  • Gardens entrance ticket: €13.00
  • Reduced ticket (11-25 years): €7.00
  • Free admission from 0 to 10 years
  • Free admission for the Group Leader
  • Free admission for 1 teacher for every 15 paying students
  • Free admission for disabled person with companion
  • Free admission for VCO Province residents every first Sunday of the month starting from April 6, 2025 by showing an identity card and booked ticket https://www.villataranto.it/en/tickets/. If there are no more places, admission may be reserved for dates in the following months subject to availability.
  • Free admission for all VCO schools
  • Free admission for the armed forces
  • Free admission for firefighters
  • Free admission for journalists

Advance reservation is not required for groups.

Yes, admission is free for disabled people and one companion.

The villa that belonged to the Captain and its garden have not been open to visitors since 1995, as it is the seat of the Verbano – Cusio – Ossola Prefecture.

 

Visits are not guided. We recommend visitors follow the consecutive numbers on the map distributed at the entrance. Guided tours are available by prior arrangement with licensed guides. A list can be found in the link below:

Yes, many areas of the gardens are accessible, but some areas may present difficulties due to the conformation of the terrain. The map provided shows the recommended route for people with reduced mobility.

Yes, the gardens can also be reached from the lake. There is a Navigazione Lago Maggiore service stop right in front of the entrance.

Yes, dogs are allowed on the pedestrian paths, as long as they are kept on a leash for the entire duration of the visit. The owner will be held responsible for any damage caused.

In the event of severe weather warnings or weather conditions that could pose a safety hazard for visitors, Management reserves the right to partially or totally close the Gardens or order their evacuation.

Picnics are allowed only in specifically dedicated areas in the park. Rubbish must be disposed of only in the appropriate containers located in the designated areas.

Taking videos and photographs for personal use is permitted. Their sale and/or publication  for commercial purposes, even on social networks, without the permission of the Management is forbidden.  The Gardens are not available for photo shoots.

Aerial photography and filming (drones, radio-controlled aerial technology, etc.) are strictly forbidden.
