04.08 – 29.08 SOUVENIR D’ARCHIVIO

locandina archivio di stato

The exhibition dedicated to Captain McEacharn opens on Monday, August 4th at 9:30 a.m. at the State Archives.

The State Archives of Verbania, in collaboration with the Botanical Gardens of Villa Taranto, has decided to dedicate the August episode of the series “Archive Souvenirs” to Captain Neil McEacharn and his passion for botany, which took shape in the famous Gardens.
In the portico of the 18th-century palace, formerly home to the Royal College of Pallanza, documents of various types will be on display, telling in words and images the history of the botanical garden from its origins to its donation to the Italian Government in 1939. It will be possible to view technical documentation, such as building permits for the interventions carried out by the Captain, as well as more personal memorabilia, such as one of his diaries.
His relationship with the city of Verbania will also be explored, as demonstrated, for example, by the application for honorary citizenship granted to him in 1963.

The State Archives of Verbania are located at Via Cadorna 37
open Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

The exhibition will remain open until August 29th and is free to visit.
